OPTION TO START YEAR LEASE ON JANUARY 1ST! MORE INFO AT THE BOTTOM.

Hi! I am an engineering student from Purdue who is looking for someone to sublet this apartment from January 1st to March 31st. I've been working in Chicago as a co-op, but I have an extra three months on my lease. I can be a bit flexible with dates, but March 31st is a hard cutoff unless you are interested in starting a year lease. I plan on leaving the apartment unfurnished, but if there are certain items of furniture that would facilitate your move, we could negotiate including it in the rent or you just buying it outright. This also applies to my router and modem if you do not have your own (you need your own internet plan though).

Great things about the apartment
Location:
o 2 minute walk from Red Line Station (Morse) (Loyola is only 1 stop to the south)
o 4 minute walk to the beach
o 5 minute walk to a great local grocery store (Morse Fresh Market)
o Tons of local restaurants/bars
o Highly regarded local theaters
Neighbors are quiet
New hardwood floors
Freshly painted

I would like to handle payments through Venmo, or a similar direct payment method. Mailing checks is a hassle. At move-in, I will need the security deposit with the first month of rent. Each subsequent payment can be made on the 20th of each month, or a similar date depending on when you move in. My landlord will want to do a credit check and is looking for a credit score of 600 or above. If it is a little lower, but everything else checks out, it should be ok. He will also want you to fill out an application as if you were applying for a lease, so ask me about the application and I will send you the pdf and his email. I will cover the application fee if you are approved.

A few notes on transportation. I did not bring a car, so I get around with public transportation, walking, and biking. I would highly recommend this method instead of a car, because driving is only marginally faster (if not slower during rush hour) while parking and gas are outrageously expensive. There is NO private parking, so you will need to find a spot on the street. The public transportation may be a bit crowded at peak times, but it goes everywhere in the city, and I can always get a seat on the Red Line train near me because Morse is only its third stop. I have commuted during rush hour to the loop a few times on the train, and it is perfectly doable. Also, Chicago recently added a ton of bike lanes, so biking is actually quite safe everywhere from Rogers Park to Downtown. The lakefront trail also makes it easy to bike longer distances safely and enjoyably. The apartment complex has a free, locked bike room for storing bikes.

I bet I probably forgot something important you wanted to know, so feel free to ask me anything about the apartment, Rogers Park, transportation, living in Chicago, etc. This apartment has worked out great for me, so I will be completely honest with whatever you want to know.

If you were interested in starting a year lease, we will go through a quick re-rent process. Your rent would be $875 a month. In this instance, I would still be open to selling you stuff in my apartment to make your move easier. You will also need to fill out the application form, so just ask about it. I will cover the application fee if you are approved. If you do not need the apartment in the summer, summer subletters are easy to find if you start early. I found one for this past year and made a little money from leaving the apartment furnished.
